Blue Startups

Founded in 2012 by Henk Rogers and Maya Rogers of the Tetris Company and Chenoa Farnsworth of Hawaii Angels, Blue Startups is a Top 20 US venture accelerator headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii. A public-private partnership funded by the State of Hawaii, Hawaii Technology Development Corporation, the Tetris Company, and private investors, Blue Startups helps capital-efficient, scalable technology companies compete globally.

Blue Startups follows a mentor-driven approach to acceleration with a network of over 250 mentors stretching from Hawaii to Silicon Valley and Asia. The 12-week cohort program supports up to 10 companies per session with lean product development, global go-to-market strategies, seed funding, and introductions to investors. As a women-led organization, 50% of portfolio companies are female-founded or led.

Blue Startups founded and manages XLR8®, a series of community-focused accelerator and incubator programs. XLR8UH® is an award-winning venture accelerator investing in University of Hawaii entrepreneurs and technologies — ranked by Forbes as one of the top 30 accelerators in the nation. XLR8HI® serves as Hawaii's Entrepreneurship Center, and XLR8YOUTH™ is a first-of-its-kind innovation intensive for youth. In 2024, Blue Startups acquired Acasia Group, expanding its global reach into the Middle East, Africa, and beyond.
