Hawaii Venture Capital Association

Founded in 1988, the Hawaii Venture Capital Association (HVCA) has stood as the nexus for entrepreneurs, capital formation, and networking opportunities in Hawaii. Led by President Meli James (co-founder of Mana Up), HVCA represents entrepreneurs, private equity firms, and venture capital firms with global investment interests across the Pacific region.

HVCA strives to serve as a catalyst and beacon in the heart of the Pacific for entrepreneurship, venture capital activity, and growth. The association fosters entrepreneurial development through education, breakfast panels with expert speakers, networking events, and exposure to prime members of Hawaii's business community. HVCA is a 501(c)(6) business club that advocates for policies supporting capital formation.

Hawaii Venture Capital Association founded and manages XLR8®, a series of community-focused accelerator and incubator programs. XLR8UH® is an award-winning venture accelerator investing in University of Hawaii entrepreneurs and technologies — ranked by Forbes as one of the top 30 accelerators in the nation. XLR8HI® serves as Hawaii's Entrepreneurship Center, and XLR8YOUTH™ is a first-of-its-kind innovation intensive for youth. In 2024, Hawaii Venture Capital Association acquired Acasia Group, expanding its global reach into the Middle East, Africa, and beyond.
