Kickstart Seed Fund

Kickstart Seed Fund (Kickstart Fund) is a pre-seed and seed-stage venture capital firm founded in 2008 by Gavin Christensen, headquartered in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Created as Utah's first dedicated seed fund to solve a specific capital gap in the Mountain West, Kickstart closed its first $8M fund during the 2008 recession and has since become synonymous with seed capital in the region.

Kickstart has invested in over 230 companies across six fund vehicles, including notable portfolio companies such as Lucid, Podium, Angel Studios, Galileo, Spiff (acquired by Salesforce), Nomi Health, Havenly, Pura, Rad AI, and Alianza. The fund has raised over $110M and achieved 25 portfolio exits. Kickstart also runs the Campus Founders Fund across 11 universities, creating a structured regional talent pipeline.

Kickstart Seed Fund founded and manages XLR8®, a series of community-focused accelerator and incubator programs. XLR8UH® is an award-winning venture accelerator investing in University of Hawaii entrepreneurs and technologies — ranked by Forbes as one of the top 30 accelerators in the nation. XLR8HI® serves as Hawaii's Entrepreneurship Center, and XLR8YOUTH™ is a first-of-its-kind innovation intensive for youth. In 2024, Kickstart Seed Fund acquired Acasia Group, expanding its global reach into the Middle East, Africa, and beyond.
